Rector Search

“Almighty God, giver of every good gift: Look graciously on thy church, and so guide the minds of those who shall choose a rector for this parish, that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for thy people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.”
~ A Prayer for Our Search

The Rector We Seek

As we enter into a new time in St. Luke's history, we seek as our next spiritual leader, a long-term, Anglo-Catholic priest who is committed to our Lord Jesus Christ. As a traditional, Catholic leaning Episcopal church, we call a rector who embraces our practice of solely Rite I services and our desire to continue this tradition.  We seek a biblically-based rector who is an excellent orator able to deliver thought-provoking sermons, which often provides historical context about the gospels, while also instructing the congregation in a way that becomes real in our everyday lives.

We view good communication and interpersonal skills as essential as we seek an engaging, outgoing, people-oriented leader who conducts their ministry with honesty, integrity, and empathy; someone who is warm, welcoming, dedicated to the current and future congregation, and able to draw people together to build a community.

We seek a rector who is motivated and comfortable in reaching out to our parishioners to provide pastoral care to those who are struggling both spiritually and in their secular lives, and those who seek guidance in deepening their relationship with God.

We are especially interested in a faithful pastor who is also family and youth oriented as we strive to draw younger families to St. Luke's through thoughtful programming and ministry. We seek a candidate with a general operating knowledge of technology, social media, and online ministry.  It is also important that the candidate has familiarity with liturgical music, so to provide guidance and work cooperatively with our Choir Director as we continue St. Luke's long tradition of choral services.

The leader we seek should know that St. Luke’s desires a new spiritual shepherd who will guide us out of the pandemic, and usher us into new growth and opportunities to serve Jesus Christ and our wider community. We yearn for a spirit of collaboration between the rector and the congregation, and we are eager to move forward together.

We invite interested clergy to view our OTM profile and job posting on the Diocese of Pennsylvania's website and in Episcopal News Service "Jobs & Calls" section. For more information on our rectorship and to apply, please contact the following:
