Rector Search

Almighty God, giver of every good gift: Look graciously on thy church, and so guide the minds of those who shall choose a rector for this parish, that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for thy people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

~ Prayer for Election of a New Rector

St. Luke's will be entering a time of transition in May 2021, which will begin with the mandatory retirement of Father Ernest Curtin, and the installation of our new Rector-in-Charge, Rev. John "Trey" Ira Kennedy III from the Diocese of Alabama. Father Kennedy will begin serving at St. Luke's on Monday, May 3, 2021.

As we mourn the retirement of Fr. Curtin and celebrate his many years of service at St. Luke's, the vestry will be starting the preliminary steps in the search for a new rector.  The vestry is seeking members of the church to assist with the search and hiring of the new rector. There are various committees which will need volunteers, those committees include:

  • Prayer
  • Communications
  • Profile
  • Search
  • Transition

If you would like to volunteer for one these committees, please email John Schmidt at

St. Luke's Vestry will be emailing out regular updates on the search process to parishioners . If you are not receiving the emailed updates, please contact Susan Bello at to be added to our email list.
